2006 Open Cup Final: Fire earn their fourth
In front of their home fans, Chicago dethrones LA 3-1
The Chicago Fire earned their fourth U.S. Open Cup championship with a 3-1 win over the Los Angeles Galaxy. In front of their home fans at Toyota Park, Nate Jaqua and Andy Herron each scored a goal in the opening 16 minutes to start the Fire on their way to denying the Galaxy back-to-back titles. Alan Gordon, who has impressed during Open Cup play this year, pulled one back in the second half but Thiago scored a late goal to clinch it for the home side.
