USOpenCup.com: Among the best
Soccer America honors the site
USOpenCup.com is honored to have been identified as one of the top U.S. soccer web sites.
In the "Year in Review" in the December issue of Soccer America, Ian Plenderleith ranks the site along with USLSoccer.com, Yanks-Abroad.com, TheGlobalGame.com, USSoccerPlayers.com and the American Soccer History Archives among America’s best.
"The following recommendations, however, generally approach the game from a less partisan, and therefore less predictable, point of view, providing insight into the game’s uncovered corners, and opinions that aim to promote discussion rather than rancour and ticket sales," Plenderleith writes of his top sites.
" ’With the memory of the 2006 final still fresh in the minds of soccer fans across the country, qualification for the 2007 edition of the tournament has begun in Illinois and Wisconsin,’ " stated a recent lead story on the site. Who knew?" Plenderleith wrote. "The answer, obviously, is the only independent site that is deeply committed to the history and the present of the country’s oldest surviving soccer trophy."
The staff of USOpenCup.com would like to thank Ian Plenderleith and Soccer America for recognizing the work that goes into this website, and all the fans and media members who frequent our pages. We look forward to bringing you even more coverage in 2007.
